How do I make my purchases be compliant to use FSA/HSA funds?
To use HSA/FSA funds for PLANTSTRONG purchases, you must go through our partner, Truemed. You have to complete the Truemed intake survey and acquire a Letter of Medical Necessity. Only then will your purchases be compliant and eligible for purchasing with your HSA or FSA funds.
What is Truemed?
Truemed partners with health and wellness brands, like PLANTSTRONG Foods, to enable qualified customers to use HSA/FSA funds on health and wellness purchases. Truemed partners with a network of medical practitioners who can issue Letters of Medical Necessity (“LMN”) to qualifying customers, thereby saving customers money on health and wellness purchases. You can read more about them, and begin the process of obtaining a Letter of Medical Necessity, at their website: https://www.truemed.com/about
What is a Letter of Medical Necessity, and how is this IRS compliant?
Truemed connects customers with a medical practitioner to determine what products or services may treat, mitigate, or prevent certain health conditions. These products and services are listed in a Letter of Medical Necessity. The items in your Truemed Letter of Medical Necessity (“LMN”) are considered qualified medical expenses in the same way a visit to the doctor’s office or the purchase of a pharmaceutical product is.
Foods qualify as medical expenses if they treat or prevent an illness, and a doctor substantiates the need. There are thousands of studies showing whole, plant-based foods are often the best medicine to prevent and sometimes even reverse disease. Your Truemed LMN satisfies all IRS requirements to make your wellness spend fully reimbursable.
You have our guarantee that Truemed will pay the full amount you should have saved if any HSA/FSA purchase outlined in our LMNs is rejected. Please email support@truemed.com if you have any questions or need assistance.
Are there fees associated with using Truemed's services?
All fees are paid by PLANTSTRONG Foods.
How is sales tax handled for HSA/FSA payments?
Sales tax is still charged and eligible to be paid by FSAs and HSAs.

I don't have an HSA/FSA, but I'd like to have one. Where can I get one?
HSA (Health Savings Account) and FSA (Flexible Spending Account) are tax-advantaged accounts that allow individuals to set aside money to pay for qualified health and medical expenses. These accounts are typically offered through employers. If you're unsure whether you have an HSA or FSA, you can check with your employer's HR department or your benefits administrator.
Truemed’s services are for individuals who have HSA or FSA accounts (or plan to fund one during open enrollment). We encourage you to ask your employer about information on your HSA or FSA!
