Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen mixed berries, or blueberries, strawberries, cherries, or raspberries
  • 1 ripe banana, mashed
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds, optional for thickening
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, optional
  • Small squeeze of lemon juice, optional

Directions

  1. Add the frozen fruit, mashed banana, and water to a small saucepan.
  2. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  3. Stir occasionally as the fruit breaks down and gets saucy, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  4. Mash slightly with the back of a spoon for a smoother texture, or leave it chunky.
  5. Stir in chia seeds, cinnamon, vanilla, or lemon juice if using.
  6. Cook 1 to 2 more minutes, then remove from heat.
